Epic Health Systems / Summer 2021 - now
In my role, I engage in various activities to effectively communicate project goals, strategies, and deliverables to large groups. This involves presenting to audiences, providing clarity on the objectives, and ensuring alignment with stakeholders. Additionally, I collaborate closely with our customers to understand their requirements, gather feedback, and ensure their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. To inform design decisions and improve user experiences, I conduct extensive user research, such as usability testing, patient interviews, industry research, and persona development. This research helps shape projects and align design objectives with technical feasibility in collaboration with multiple development teams. To bridge the gap between designers and developers, I create mock-ups in PowerPoint that effectively communicate design concepts and facilitate implementation. Along with being a User Experience Designer, I am an immersion point person. I coordinate trips with our Technical Support staff to put Research & Development staff on customer site's for user research. I also establish connections between our Accessibility and User Experience Design teams to ensure inclusive and user-friendly designs that comply with accessibility standards. Furthermore, I utilize Adobe XD to create prototypes that showcase design concepts, interactions, and flows, facilitating effective communication with my development teams and stakeholders. Among other aspects of my role I am a mentor, I guide and support junior team members, fostering their professional growth while upholding the highest level of design quality. Lastly, I deliver impactful infographics and slide decks that visually communicate complex information, enhance presentations, and support strategic initiatives.
Purdue University Northwest / Spring 2019 - Spring 2021
During my time at PNW, I had the opportunity to complete User Interface and User Experience Design courses led by Dr. Roller, a former Google User Experience Designer. These courses provided me with a solid foundation in the principles and practices of UI/UX design. In practical application, I conducted thorough user research to gain insights into user needs, employing methods such as surveys and cardsorts to gather and evaluate valuable information. To effectively communicate design concepts, I utilized various visual tools such as storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps, allowing me to visualize and illustrate user experiences. To bring these ideas to life and showcase interactive functionality, I developed interactive prototypes using industry-standard tools like Figma and Adobe XD. Additionally, I conducted usability studies to objectively assess the effectiveness and significance of both research findings and design solutions, ensuring a user-centered approach throughout the design process.
